I took yesterday off—a not uncommon thing for me on a Sunday. And another factor was the fact that I played a piano solo at church in the morning, and spent the afternoon preparing and posting a video of that. However, a third factor really made my decision, in retrospect, a wise one.

Both my daughter Christy, who worshipped with me in the morning, and Michelle (who stayed home, having tested positive for COVID last Monday and been very run down ever since) urged me to take a COVID test, as I was sneezing quite a bit and looking awfully tired. So I did, in the evening .... and tested positive.

In light of this, feeling the need to stay inside our home today, I did a good, sizable ride on our stationary bike, while watching The Sound of Music.

This gave me a ride today of 29.9 virtual miles in 2:56.

Today was cool and rainy all day. So I waited until after the Michigan football game, and then rode inside on our stationary cycle, while watching my favorite movie, On Golden Pond.

This gave me a ride today of 20.4 virtual miles in 1:47.

BIG DAY TODAY! I'm going to see the Tigers play tonight with a buddy, and if they win, they clinch a spot in the playoffs (for the first time since 2014). So, wanting to work in a nap in preparation for the game, I settled for a round trip to Marsh Park.

This gave me a ride today of 10.1 miles in 1:17.

This morning, I went out at 9:30, hoping to do a brisk early ride. But I was highly dismayed to find that my rear tire was completely flat. Since the rear one is more complex, I knew that I couldn't handle it solo, so I  texted my good friend Doug Tidd (the fellow who got me into cycling roughly a decade ago), and to my great good fortune he was available to come over immediately.

The tire was soon fixed, and I changed my plans only slightly, shortening my ride a little bit in order to catch the entire Tigers' game at 1:10. (It ia their fourth to the last game of the season, and they are in hot pursuit of a spot in the playoffs.) so I settled for riding what I call the Platt/Ellsworth Rectangle.

This gave me a ride today of 11.6 miles in 1:32.

Today, I wanted to get my ride done fairly early, and so began at 8:45 (64°, up to 68° during the ride) and rode the Packard/Platt Square.

This gave me a ride today of 13.5 miles in 1:55.

Based on the weather forecast this morning, which was calling for rain most of the day, I rode inside relatively early this morning. As the day turned out, I could perhaps have squeezed in an outdoor ride, though.

When I ride inside, I usually watch a movie, but today instead I listened to my sports-talk radio station (97.1, The Ticket), as the Tigers are just entering their final week of the season, with a good chance of making the playoffs, and I couldn't resist following the discussion.

This gave me a ride today of 15.3 virtual miles in 1:27.

Monday, 9/23/2024 - 56th outdoor ride of 2024

After taking a Sunday rest day yesterday, I got back to it late this morning, leaving about 10:30 in 61° seasonal conditions that climbed to 65° during the ride, and went around the Platt/Packard Square.

This gave me a ride today of 13.6 miles in 1:47.

Saturday, 9/21/2024 - 55th outdoor ride of 2024

this morning, I wanted to ride relatively early, and began just before 8:00, in cool (63°) and fairly thick fog. I rode the Packard/Platt Square, and by the time I finished, the fog had burned off and it had heated up to 70°.

This gave me a ride today of 13.6 miles in 1:45.

Today, I waited until 11:30, and then rode a round trip to Marsh Park in bright sunshine ( 71° at the beginning, 76° at the end), A complicating factor, though, was that when I paused at the park for a few minutes, I thought I had paused the app, but I didn't ... so my recorded time was significantly greater than my actual time. And another complicating factor was the fact that I felt like I was riding through thick mud ... I just could not generate any speed, even though I could not detect a technical problem with the trike.

This gave me a ride today of 10.2 miles in 1:27.

Yesterday I again took a rest day (not for any particular or pressing reason), and today I resumed action by going out about 9:15 in 68° sunshine (that climbed to 77° during my ride), and went around the Platt/Packard Square.

This gave me a ride today of 13.4 miles in 1:44.

Yesterday I took the day off from riding, after having played a piano solo at church in the morning. Today I was glad to get back into it, leaving at 10:30 to ride the Packard/Platt Square, in sunshine that went from 73° ro 80°.

This gave me a ride today of 13.8 miles in 1:44.

i settled for a very short ride today, just going down for one loop around Stonebridge, a housing development about a mile south of us that's wrapped around a golf course. The weather was lovely—81° and brightly sunny -- but I just didn't have it in me to do a more substantial ride. 

This gave me a ride today of 5.8 miles in 46 minutes.

Yesterday I was totally jet-lagged from my return from Ireland. Today, though, I was able to get back at it, and rode a round trip to the center of Saline in gorgeous weather.

Having just returned from a ten-day trip to Ireland yesterday, it's hard to believe that I'm back in Michigan. But since I am, I figured I'd better chip away at starting to get back into my routine, so today I rode a round trip to Marsh Park.
